2008 academic school year commences with some significant milestones
Year 12 results in 2007
While looking forward to the 2008 school year with a sense of excitement and anticipation it will be remiss of me if the successes of our Year 12 students that graduated from our College in 2007 were not acknowledged and celebrated.
Our congratulations are extended to our Year 12 students who successfully met the SACE requirements.
Of the 42 students enrolled 83% received the SACE and 80% received a TER Score.
2007 SSABSA Stage 2 highlights include:
1. Dux of the College being awarded to Peter Mylidonis with a TER Score of
94.55. Peter has been accepted to commence a Bachelor of Laws DOUBLE DEGREES in 2008.
2. Peter Mylidonis being awarded the 2007 Classical Association of South Australia Prize for Classical Studies.
25th Year Anniversary
2008 is an historic year for our College. It marks 25 years since our parent “Community and Parish of St George Thebarton and Western Suburbs” took the historic decision to establish St George College as the first and still the only Orthodox College in South Australia.
This pioneering and courageous decision has ensured that thousands of students have been and continue to be privileged in accessing quality education that is shaped and informed by the eternal truths of Orthodoxy, is influenced by the values and history of Hellenism and is delivered in ways that prepares our students for productive and effective citizenship within our Australian multicultural society as well as within a global context.
This year therefore will be marked with a number of special events that will aim to celebrate the achievements of one of the most important institutions that has been established in the history of and for the benefit of the whole of our Greek Orthodox South Australian community.
The 25th Year Anniversary celebrations are under the joint auspices of our Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of our parent Community and Parish of St George Thebarton and Western Suburbs and will span over the 2008 academic school year.
The planned celebrations will include:
1. Celebration of Modern Greek Assembly to be held on
the 26th March 2008
2. Anniversary Dinner at the Adelaide Hilton Hotel to be
held on the 27th September 2008
3. Best of Greece Musical Evening – To be Advised
We request that parents mark these important dates in their diaries and join with the rest of our College community in celebrating this milestone in the accumulating history of our College.
More information about this and other events will be forwarded to parents as it becomes available.
