Parents & Friends Committee

The role of the Parents & Friends Committee is primarily a fundraising one with a focus on identifying worthwhile projects that will benefit our students and St George College. However, it also provides an opportunity for social interaction between parents, teachers and friends in a more relaxed atmosphere. It is with these outcomes in mind that the Parents & Friends Committee meets and coordinates a variety of events throughout the year. As parents, our aim is always to strive for the best for our children.  And as a group, the committee work on each event with absolute dedication.

Each brings their area of expertise to the committee and together we work hard to present a variety of functions. We always welcome new members to the committee.  The Quiz night is always popular and the huge numbers of prizes on offer means nearly everyone walks away a winner. The Annual Greek Dance was an overwhelming success this year with nearly 500 people attending and enjoying our children’s dancing groups, as well as fabulous food, fully catered for by the committee members.  Our 1st Christmas BBQ, held on Sunday 13th November was well attended with many new faces a pleasure to see and now looking like becoming a yearly event.

Sincere thanks must go to our sponsors, both regular and new, who throughout the year donate a variety of prizes for our events. From individual parents to small business owners to large organisations, their generosity ensures our functions are a success.

Undoubtedly it is our parents and friends of the school who have supported our functions this year that we sincerely thank as well as the co operation and assistance of the principal and staff.

Having assisted in the acquisition of the school bus, the committee, with the backing of the Board of Governors, are now focussed on new and exciting projects for the next 2 years. Amongst a number of projects, the committee is looking at the acquisition and installation of play equipment in the junior campus grounds while at the senior campus, the resurfacing of the bituminised area with synthetic (astro) turf and lighting will provide an excellent opportunity to offer outdoor sports such as tennis, volleyball & netball. Whilst still in the early stages, we are enthusiastic about seeing these projects become a reality.

It is with these goals in mind that I encourage everyone to continue to support our events and fundraisers in the coming year knowing that our children will be the ones who will benefit from our successes.
